Most of my career has been spent inside change: programmes that needed rescuing, teams that needed room to think, technology that promised more than an organisation was ready to absorb. The visible work was delivery. The deeper work was always about people making sense of uncertainty together.
This site is a place to examine that deeper work.
What I want to follow
I am interested in the space between a good idea and a change that actually holds. That includes the mechanics of delivery, but also the judgement around them: how leaders see a situation clearly, how teams recover trust, how governance can create movement instead of theatre, and how new tools alter the work without erasing the people doing it.
Applied AI makes these questions more urgent. It can compress effort, widen access and give small teams capabilities that once belonged only to large organisations. It can also magnify confusion, poor incentives and weak decisions. The technology matters. The conditions around it matter just as much.
A personal room
I run Company31, where these ideas become practical work with businesses, schools, community organisations, and individuals. This site is not an extension of that practice. It is a more personal room: somewhere to think in public, follow a question for longer than a service page allows, and occasionally change my mind.
The useful part of experience is not having seen everything before. It is learning to notice what is actually happening now.
I will write essays when a question needs room, and shorter notes when it does not. The subjects will move between delivery, leadership, coaching, transformation, applied AI and the odd lesson that arrives from somewhere else entirely.
That is the intention. The writing can now begin.
